May presentation: Native Pollinator Plants

Tuesday May 19th, Fringewood Community CentreDoors open at 7pm, meeting starts 7:30pm. Our presenter is remote so this will be our first Zoom Viewing Party. Viewers may join online.

Joseph (Joe) Pitawanakwat is Anishinaabe from Wiikwemkoong First Nation (Manitoulin Island). He is the founder and Director of Creators Garden, an Indigenous outdoor and on-line education-based business focused on plant identification, beyond-sustainable harvesting and teaching about a plant's linguistic, historical, cultural, edible, ecological and medicinal significance. He has learned from Indigenous traditional knowledge holders and blends this knowledge with western sciences. Joseph will be discussing native pollinator plants, their significance, as well as the pollinators they support. 

Spring Plant Sale and Fundraiser

Great opportunity to get some perennials, biennials and native plants for a fabulous price. Cash only sale. Some herbs, vegetables and gardening supplies/accessories also available.

If you are looking to contribute plants, please start potting your donations now: perennials, biennials, vegetables, herbs and assorted gardening supplies. We cannot accept invasive plants. If you are not sure if your plant is invasive, please email sghorticultural@gmail.com.

All About Stittsville Goulbourn Horticultural Society

Come garden with us!

The SGHS offers a program that includes regular monthly meetings (July, August, and December excepted) with special speakers, photography competitions, flower shows, events (i.e. bus tours, garden tours), and our Annual Christmas Pot Luck Supper.

Our meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 pm at the Fringewood Community Centre, 14 Fringewood Drive Stittsville for in-person meetings. Please make sure to double-check if a meeting will be in-person or via Zoom.
